The CEO Lab Podcast is a conversation programme about starting, running and sticking with a small business. It is made for people who motivate and cultivate entrepreneurial culture: owners a year or two in, people still holding a job while they build something on the side, and anyone who wants the ordinary mechanics of trading described plainly rather than dressed up.
The show keeps to one idea per episode. A subject is introduced, worked through in the order an owner would actually meet it, and closed with the part that is easy to put off. There is no attempt to make running a company sound simple, and no attempt to make it sound heroic either. The standing line the show has always opened with sets the tone: you will never change your life until you change your choices.
What the show covers
- How owners think about money, pricing and the pace of growth.
- The difference between working for yourself and working on the business.
- Branding as a promise made to a customer, and the work of keeping it.
- Trading through disrupted conditions and changing course without panic.
- Daily routine, consistency and the habits that hold a small operation together.
How an episode is put together
Each episode runs as a single recorded conversation rather than a produced package. The subject is set out at the top, worked through in the middle, and left with one practical thing to go and do. Written notes accompany the recurring subjects and are collected in the Notes section of this site.
